Myth has it that if you put a frog in a pot of boiling water, it will jump out. But if you put the frog in cold water and raise the temperature slowly, the frog will be lulled into complacency until he succumbs to his boiling environment.

Applying this allegory to health, we are sometimes like the frog. We, too, tend to accept gnawing pain or dysfunction that creeps up on us slowly but steadily until it becomes a chronic health problem.

For instance, in 2006, over 50% of all doctors’ office visits were made by patients with one or more chronic conditions. Hypertension was the most frequent, followed by arthritis, hyperlipidemia (fat substance in blood), diabetes and depression. Added to the list were allergies, anxiety, fibromyalgia, hip pain, muscle atrophy, respiratory congestion, tension headaches, TMJ pain, non-healing wounds or incisions, and weak circulatory and immune systems. These are not conditions that arrive overnight nor do they pack their bags and leave after one treatment the next morning.

Dating three thousand years back to the Egyptians, such ailments were treated using negative pressure, a mainstay healing methodology known also as tissue decompression. Decompression Massage Therapy (DMT) is the modern version of this ancient method of therapy.

DMT uses alternating pressure to exercise tissue, making it strong and healthy. DMT stimulates blood flow throughout the circulatory system. This blood carries nutrients and oxygen which help heal weak or compromised tissue. Reduction of atmospheric pressure lifts tissue, relaxes tension on muscle fibers, and establishes fluid balance, alleviating swelling. Treatments can break up calcium deposits and stimulate lubrication in finger, wrist and other joints, increasing movement and relieving pain. Most impressive of all, with DMT one need not risk negative effects of chemicals, injections or a surgical procedure. It is an all-natural, soothing and painless therapy.

arrowConsulting with a certified DMT Provider is an excellent first step. Ask about DMT treatments and how they can benefit you. Do it before the water in your pot starts to boil.
